Children and their Toy’s – Gabriele Galimberti

Posted on March 22, 2013

I was immediately fascinated, lured into looking at Gabriele Galimberti’s photographs of children and their toy’s. Gabriele has globally photographed children and the toys they have an what I find interesting is the culture and nature of what children on a global scale have, and to me, it communicates so much but most importantly the way in which we can take things for granted and the things that we value as children.

ImageProxy.mvcGabriele says it was surprising how much toys can tell about the family of the child, and even though all kids just want to play, they do it in very different ways: “The richest children were more possessive. In poor countries, it was much easier. In Africa, the kids would mostly play with their friends outside.”

ImageProxy.mvckGabriele Galimberti is an Italian based photographer and he dedicated 18 months for this project which he titles, ‘Toy Story’ it signifies the indifference between wealth and poverty, between those of good and bad luck and for me it hit’s home hard and makes me feel fortunate with the childhood I was given. How about you?
