Nadar (Gaspard-Felix Tournachon) ‘The First Ever Aerial Photograph!’

Posted on March 30, 2012

Gaspard-Felix Tournachon was a frenchman who went by the pseudonym of ‘Nadar’. He was the first ever phtographer to take an aerial photograph in 1858, although he had the idea in 1855. He took the photograph from a hot air balloon, his oldest surviving photograph was the Arc de Triomphe that we all know and love. The cameras he had used were bulky and irritating to use within the confined space that was the hot air balloon but regardless he still used them AND he also carried around a darkroom with him.
